In the spirit of the season, we thought we would share a plan for a Thanksgiving celebration in the city that will bring fond memories for years to come!
It's Thanksgiving Week and we can't be more excited to spend extra time with family. We love the magic of New York City around the holidays and always try to have a "City Day" during this wonderful time each year.
Unless you REALLY like crowds and getting up super early, we suggest you forgo the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade and go see the balloon inflation the night before instead. This is a time-honored tradition that kids of all ages enjoy. You can get up close to the balloons and see the inflation in progress from 1pm to 8pm at the area surrounding the American Museum of Natural History.
We are most excited to see Greg Heffley from Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Chase from Paw Patrol, Hello Kitty, Olaf from the Frozen movie and of course Snoopy! (Spiderman above is not in this year's lineup.)
Take a train into the Grand Central Terminal and then take a cab to 74th and Columbus (a new entry point this year.)
If you are feeling a bit adventurous, you can also drive and find street parking or a garage.
For more detailed information, please visit this official parade FAQ.
We always love to peek into the Natural History Museum or the New York Historical Society Museum before we see the balloons since they are adjacent to the balloon inflation area. After seeing the balloons, stop into one of our favorite stores: Flying Tiger Copenhagen at Columbus and 81st! We love to check out their brilliant novelty items that are sure to delight the whole family without breaking the bank!
Maybe we will see you tomorrow!
Thank you to Macy's for making this event happen.
